The customer only gets the code once the rental has started, and the next customer gets a new one. No keys to hand over, collect or lose.

If the customer collects with a code, they photograph the trailer against your checklist at collection and at return. The photos are saved with the booking, and if something looks wrong it shows up under Issues in your admin. How the check works.
You can set a late-return fee, which the customer sees before booking. A late return goes to the top of admin, and you can send a reminder from there.
No. Customers book with you, under your name, not with a bigger player that takes the customer and part of the revenue. You set your prices and your terms, and the customers and their details are yours.
The locks work without internet and the code is generated in advance, so little can go wrong. The battery level shows in admin, so you can change batteries in time. The instructions are in the customer's booking.
